New Elevated Water Tank Replacement

PROJECT STATUS:
This project is currently in the DESIGN phase.Â
On January 16, 2024 City Council approved the professional services fee of $194,055 to McKim and Creed under the Master Services Agreement for the replacement of an elevated water tank.Â
The water system for the citizens of Gulf Breeze requires nearly as much cost for serious repairs as the cost of replacement of the elevated water tank located at 14 Camelia Street. Staff has recommended to remove the existing tank and construct a new 200,000 gallon elevated tank in a new location as the current location abutts the fire station, police station, city services annex and parking for the Capital Trust Authority. The new location for the new elevated tank is proposed for Shoreline Park South.
McKim and Creed is currently working on the City's West Water Plant replacement design, therefore, staff requested McKim & Creed provide a fee for the basis of design for a new elevated water storage tank, as these two projects will need to be coordinated for pump sizing and communications. Additionally, a limited hydraulic model of the system will be conducted to ensure the proper elevation and operation of the tank in the selected location. The professional fee proposal is $194,055, which is reasonable considering the complexity of the project.
The City will determine the best action plan for demolishing the existing elevated water tank on Camelia Street.Â
