The upgrade will include the full length of Soundview Trail starting at the cul-de-sac at the west end of Soundview Trail to the tee south of McAbee Court. It will also include the length of the existing water main along McAbee Court from the tee south of McAbee Court on Soundview Trail to the Bahama Bay Club Condominiums.Â

100% design plans have been submitted to the city for review. The next steps include finalizing the bid package, advertising the project, pre-bid meeting, bid opening, bid award, contract execution, and commencement.
January 29, 2024: 75% Design, technical specifications, and OPC received from McKim and Creed.
The design phase is approximately 50% complete as of 12.12.2023.
Next steps: Perform Wetlands Delineation and Prepare a new Utility Easement for the project.Â
BACKGROUND:
On August 21, 2023 the City Council approved the Professional Services Fee of $68,940 under the Master Services Agreement with McKim and Creed for upgrades to be completed for the Soundview and McAbee Water Main.
The 6" PVC, thin wall, water main on Soundview Trail and the southeast portion of McAbee Ct has reached its life expectancy. It is currently failing in several places causing City staff to respond frequently to emergency phone calls.
McKim and Creed will provide the surveying, design, and permitting necessary to create a construction-ready set of plans to be sent out for an invitation to bid on construction. The costs for the design will be taken from the Water Main Improvements CIP fund.
