DEPARTMENT: PUBLIC SERVICES
ANNUAL SALARY: $25,928.00 to $41,485.00
STATUS: FULL-TIME – EXEMPT
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
Efficient work involving the installation, repair, cleaning and maintenance of water & sewer lines, force mains inspection and repair of lift stations. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Water & Sewer Supervisor and work may be assigned to be performed under the supervision of a Foreman as determined by the Water & Sewer Supervisor.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Performs routine maintenance on water distribution and sewer collections systems.
- Installs and repairs water lines, well points, pumps, manholes, and all related facilities.
- Digs and refills ditches, loads dirt and construction materials.
- Operates fire hydrant in flushing water lines.
- Performs taps on water and reclaim systems.
- Locates buried pipes, valves, etc.
- Turns services on and off. Reads meters.
- Maintains, inspects, and repairs pumps.
- Repairs leaks on water, wastewater, and reclaim systems.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS:
- Knowledge and experience in the use of hand tools, power tools and equipment related to general industry
- Ability to communicate verbally using the English language.
- Ability to operate equipment.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
High school graduation or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma.
A minimum of 2 years experience in heavy manual labor and the use of hand and light power tools strongly preferred.
(A comparable amount of training, education or experience can be substituted for the minimum qualifications.)
LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS OR REGISTRATION:
Possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver’s License

- Heavy (45 pounds and over) lifting and carrying.
- Acceptable eyesight (with or without corrective lenses).
- Acceptable hearing (with or without hearing aid).
- Ability to communicate orally.
