Adopting Improved Safety Measures For Recreational Devices
August 4, 2025
Immediate Release
Gulf Breeze City Council Holding First Reading of Ordinance No. 03-2025,
Adopting Improved Safety Measures for Recreational Devices, Vehicles, and EMobility
Happening Tonight at 5:30 PM
The Mayor & City Council will consider, on First Reading, Ordinance No. 03-2025 for
added safety regulations related to electric scooters & bikes.
Should electric scooters be allowed on the boat docks, boardwalks & piers?
Should e-bikes be tearing across the million-dollar turf field?
And what about those gas-powered toy bikes that roar up and down the visitor seating,
often driven by tweens without helmets?
Ordinance 03-2025 proposes to:
Prohibit all electric recreational devices inside Shoreline Park — except on
designated multi-use/shared-use pathways.
Update local penalties to reflect new state laws.
This ordinance was drafted following a well-attended Traffic Calming Committee
meeting, reflecting community input and proactive safety planning ahead of the new
school year.
Join us at City Hall tonight. Your input helps keep our community safe, fun for all, and
family-friendly.
