Councilman Tim Burr was elected unopposed and sworn into his first term of office on December 5, 2024.
Professional Background
Tim graduated with honors from Harvard College, majoring in Psychology and Social Relations. Following his undergraduate studies, he worked in the marine towing industry in Miami before pursuing a legal education at the University of Miami Law School, focusing on admiralty and maritime law.
His legal career began in New Orleans, where he became a partner at a major firm. Later, he co-founded a new firm with three colleagues, where he was selected as managing director. Under his leadership, the firm expanded significantly, establishing offices in seven states.
In 1996, Tim relocated with his young family to Gulf Breeze to open the firm’s first Florida office. While continuing his maritime law practice, he diversified his expertise to include professional defense for legal, medical, accounting, and real estate professionals. Tim retired in 2017, having earned the highest professional ratings for competency and ethics.

City Council Priorities
Tim is committed to collaborating with the City Council, City Manager, and Staff to preserve and enhance Gulf Breeze’s exceptional quality of life. Grateful for the opportunity to serve, he is dedicated to fostering a thriving community for his family and all residents. In addition to supporting ongoing city projects, Tim prioritizes environmental stewardship, with a particular focus on safeguarding the waterways and wetlands that are vital to the city’s future.
Tim and his wife, Marguerite, have three children who attended Gulf Breeze Middle and High Schools. One of their daughters and three granddaughters (soon to be four) reside in Gulf Breeze. Tim values family and is passionate about contributing to a community where future generations can flourish.
