City of Gulf Breeze Citizens Academy (moved to Fall 2025)
The City of Gulf Breeze Citizens Academy is a free, 8-week, two-hour course that provides an opportunity for its residents to learn about City government through interactive classes designed to provide insight and an up-close and personal look at how City government functions and helps shape our community.  The mission of the Citizens Academy is citizen engagement and preparing residents for future positions on city committees and boards.Â
Join retired Gulf Breeze City Manager Buz Eddy and City Manager, Samantha Abell, as they facilitate talks with City Officials and challenge Academy members to a “think tank” for ways to improve Gulf Breeze. Through presentations, participants will also gain a better understanding of the part Gulf Breeze City government plays in the quality of life that residents enjoy.
Objective – To inform citizens and stakeholders of the operations of city government and what is involved in delivering and maintaining services to the citizens of Gulf Breeze.
Benefits – A behind-the-scenes look at Gulf Breeze’s city government and to create an environment of informed citizens who can become volunteers for appointed boards, task forces, and commissions.
Class Size – The class is limited to 12 participants. Participants must be 18 years of age or older to participate and a current resident of Gulf Breeze.
Curriculum – (To be announced)
