Gulf Breeze Highway 98 Utility Undergrounding Project Reaches Major Milestone
The final three utility poles along the Highway 98 Utility Undergrounding Project came down today!
After nearly three years of construction and almost a decade of planning and investment, this milestone marks a major step forward for a more resilient and attractive Gulf Breeze. 🌴☀️
This approximately $7.5 million project represents a major investment in the future of Gulf Breeze, improving storm resiliency, safety, and the appearance of our primary commercial corridor.
⚡ 70 utility poles removed
📏 Nearly 2 miles of overhead wire removed
💡 80 new decorative streetlights installed
Mayor JB Schluter and City Manager Samantha Abell were on hand to mark the occasion as the final poles came down.
And we’re not finished! Later this year, the City expects to begin the next phase of undergrounding along Fairpoint Drive, Shoreline Drive, South Sunset Boulevard, and Daniel Drive, extending these improvements into major residential corridors.
A more resilient and attractive Gulf Breeze, years in the making! 🌳☀️
