E-Mobility Safety (E-Bikes, Scooters & More)
The Gulf Breeze Police Department is committed to keeping everyone safe on our roadways, sidewalks, and shared-use paths.
With the rise in e-bikes and other electric devices, it’s important to understand the rules, ride responsibly, and protect yourself and others.
Know the Laws E-bikes and similar devices follow many of the same rules as bicycles—but there are important local safety requirements:
- E-bikes may be used on roads, bike lanes, and designated multi-use path.
- Motorized devices are not allowed on sidewalks unless specifically designated.
- Riders must obey all traffic laws, including signals and signs.
- When riding slower than traffic, stay in the bike lane or as far right as practical.
- Maximum speed on multi-use path is 15 mph.
- Riders must yield to pedestrians at all times.
- When passing pedestrians, give an audible signal (bell or voice).
- Do not park or stop in a way that blocks sidewalks or the multi-use path.
- At night, bikes must have:
- White front light (visible 500 ft)
