2020 City Council Election
The period for qualifying to become a candidate for mayor or city council shall open on Monday August 3, 2020 at 8:00 AM and close on August 14th at 12:00 PM.
The City of Gulf Breeze will have the following seats up for election: Mayor, currently held by Cherry Fitch, two (2) year term, and two Council members: Seat A, currently held by Councilman JB Schluter and Seat B currently held by Mayor Pro Tem Tom Naile. Seats A and B will be for the regular four-year term, from 2020 to 2024.
Those seeking to qualify must be a qualified elector of the City who is also a bona fide resident of the City of Gulf Breeze (32561) and shall comply with applicable Florida statutory provisions, including provisions on payment of an election assessment, and shall also comply with provisions of the Florida Election Code applicable to municipalities, Chapters 97–106, including provisions on payment of a qualifying fee or use of the petition process in lieu of payment of the fee.
Candidate qualifying forms must be filed with the City Clerk and applicable fees paid during the qualifying period in order to be placed on the ballot. The qualifying process must be completed by Noon, Friday, August 14, 2020, in order to be a candidate.  Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, candidate qualifying will be done by appointment only. Â

Please note the total time commitment required to serve on the Council. In addition to the regular
meeting schedule of two Council meetings per month, there are numerous other boards,
committees, events, etc., that you may be called on to represent the City and/or attend.
