City Volunteer Boards

The City of Gulf Breeze has several volunteer Boards:  Architectural Review Board, Board of Adjustment, and Development Review Board.  At this time, the City is seeking volunteers for the Board of Adjustment and Development Review Board.  If you are interested in serving on one of these Boards, please contact the City Clerk’s office at 850.934.5115.

The following is a brief description for each Board.

ARCHITECTURAL REVIEW BOARD:

The Architectural Review Board reviews projects which meet the applicability requirements found in Chapter 26 of the Municipal Code of Ordinances and the City’s adopted design guidelines.  The Architectural Review Board is an advisory Board to the City Council.

The Board meets on the third Thursday of each month if there are projects to be reviewed.   You will be provided a packet with the application and a description of the project with site plans before the meeting.  You are not to discuss the case with other Board members outside of the meeting.  If you visit the site and discuss the plans with anyone on site you must disclose this communication at the beginning of the meeting.

The term limit for this board is:  Two (2) years with two consecutive term limitations

BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT:

The Board of Adjustment hears applications for variances from our Land Development Code of Ordinances. The Board of Adjustment is a Quasi-Judicial Board and the applicant’s only appeal is to the Santa Rosa Circuit Court.

The Board meets on the fourth Tuesday of each month if there are cases to be heard.  You will receive a packet with the application and a description of the project with site plans the Friday before the meeting.  You are not to discuss the case with other Board members outside of the meeting.  If you visit the site and discuss the plans with anyone on site you must disclose this communication at the beginning of the meeting.

The term limit for this board is:   Three (3) years with two consecutive term limitations

A Statement of Financial Interests (Form 1) is required to be completed each year.

 

DEVELOPMENT REVIEW BOARD:

The Development Review Board hears applications for construction within the City Limits not requiring a variance.  The Development Review Board is an advisory Board to the City Council.

The Board meets on the first Tuesday before the second Monday of each month if there are cases to be heard.  You will be provided a packet with the application and a description of the project with site plans before the meeting.  You are not to discuss the case with other Board members outside of the meeting.  If you visit the site and discuss the plans with anyone on site you must disclose this communication at the beginning of the meeting.

The term limit for this board is:   Two (2) years with two consecutive term limitations

A Statement of Financial Interests (Form 1) is required to be completed each year.

 

All Boards are subject to the Florida Sunshine Laws.
